About Us
Houstory is a new initiative dedicated to empowering renters with comprehensive and transparent rental history. By leveraging public data and user-generated insights, Houstory provides a platform for renters to make confident, informed decisions. Our goal is to create a more equitable and accountable rental ecosystem, addressing the information asymmetry that often leaves tenants vulnerable to bad-faith landlords and uninhabitable living conditions. We are starting in the New York City and Baltimore markets, with plans to expand to other major cities.

LP's story began in New York, a city that shaped her decade-long career in human resources. She has held various positions, mostly in human resources, working for the city of NY and at Columbia University, where she graduated with her masters. In these roles, she developed programs to improve new employee integration, streamlined performance evaluations, and provided strategic guidance on talent management and organizational design. After working in New York for years, she relocated to Maryland and shifted her career focus to building high-performing teams for startups. While working as the Head of Human Resources for Rampart Communications, a wireless communications startup, she scaled the company's workforce from 6 to 75 employees in two years. During this time, she realized a common struggle for renters and founded Houstory. Now based in Silver Spring, Maryland, LP is the founder and managing director of Houstory, a platform that aims to bring transparency to the rental market. The idea for Houstory was born from her own "nightmare" rental experience in Brooklyn, where she felt she was stepping into a complete "information black hole." Houstory is designed to empower renters by providing them with real, verified rental history and insights into specific units from previous tenants. This includes crucial details about landlord responsiveness, maintenance issues, neighborhood experiences, and potential red flags like flooding or bedbugs. Houstory's mission is to create a more equitable rental market where people can make confident, informed decisions instead of feeling like they are "renting in the dark."
